FILIPINO workers in Riyadh are invited to a special registration for overseas absentee voters (OAV) at the Islamic Center, Second Industrial Center there Friday, February 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., said Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Aradia Bahnarim Guinomla.

In a Department of Foreign Affairs statement, Guinomla said the registration, in coordination with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Kalipunang Kaakabay ng Manggagawang Pilipino sa Saudi Arabia (KAKAMPI-KSA) Industrial Area, Riyadh, will allow them to vote in the 2007 elections.

POLO and OWWA, headed by Labor Attaché Manuel Roldan and Welfare Officer Armando Roa respectively, along with representatives from the Social Security System and Pag-Ibig, will also render their services to OFWs during the day.

At the same time, registered voters in 2003 who were issued voter’s IDs without photos, thumbprints, or signatures may also proceed to the registration area to have their biometrics recaptured, Guinomla said.

He said applications for transfer of registration record from one country to another would also be accepted.

Regular registration days at the embassy are from Saturdays to Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN RIYADH, KSA TO CONDUCT OAV REGISTRATION ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17

15 February 2006— Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Bahnarim A. Guinomla reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Embassy will conduct a registration for overseas absentee voting (OAV) on Friday, 17 February 2006, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Islamic Center, Second Industrial City in Riyadh.

This list-up is in coordination with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Kalipunang Kaakabay ng Manggagawang Pilipino sa Saudi Arabia (KAKAMPI-KSA) Industrial Area, Riyadh.

Ambassador Guinomla has called on OFWs in the Industrial Area and nearby areas to take time to register at the Islamic Center this Friday in order to participate in next year’s elections.

POLO and OWWA, headed by Labor Attaché Manuel Roldan and Welfare Officer Armando Roa, along with SSS and Pag-Ibig, will likewise be rendering their services to fellow OFWs during the day.

The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude to Mr. Manuel “Bong” Amora of KAKAMPI-KSA for his group’s active involvement and support for OAV registration and information campaign.

Aside from applications for registration and certification, applications for correction of wrong entries in the voter’s ID and change of data are also accepted.

Registered voters in 2003 who have been issued voter’s IDs without photos, thumbprints or signatures may also proceed to the registration area to have their biometrics recaptured.

Applications for transfer of registration record from one country to another will also be accepted.
