  1. gud day,

Under OWWA-Philhealth, overseas worker-members and families are provided with health insurance.

OWWA members, their families and distressed OFWs who need medical treatment for illnesses contracted while working abroad can also avail for hospitalization. OWWA Philhealth pays for hospital expenses.

OFW-patients and family beneficiaries are provided with medical services ranging from general medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, etc. PhilHealth also reimburses overseas confinements.

      Good luck Vir!

  2. Hi, my sister is in taiwan, and want to have a loan here in d phils., tru me, is 8 possible? and san pwede mag loan?thanks

    • Hi Ria,

Puwede, kailangan lang ng mga dokumento na magpapatunay na nasa Taiwan ang iyong sister at authorization sa kamag-anak na mag loan such as Power of Attorney. If you have time drop by at any OWWA office in your area and ask for details.

      Thanks for dropping by.

  4. Dear Sir,

My husband is an ofw since 2005, he is now planning to settle for good here in Isabela, this coming December. This month of July, we are now starting our business as fishpond operator, we have 22,000 fingerlings in our ponds. Due to the high cost of feeds, we will not be able to sustain this need until we harvest on December 2010.

In this regard, may i know sir, if we can avail a loan in order to provide the feeds we need for the said fingerlings. We cannot submit a collateral right now because the Title of the said fishpond is still on process by DENR.

    Salamat po.

  5. my Uncle is a owwa member for the last 25 years and his last departure was 2005 and he died this year, would he still be eligible to claim the burial benefits?

    • Hi Aldwin! Im sorry to tell you that when a worker stops paying his/her membership to OWWA, he is not considered an OWWA member. Please note the bold/italic portion of the paragraph below;

Death Benefit entitles an OWWA member to a benefit, payable to his/her designated beneficiary, of P100,000 for the duration of his employment contract for death due to natural cause, and P200,000 for death due to accident.

Effectivity of Membership: OWWA membership, either through the compulsory or voluntary coverages, shall be effective upon payment of membership contribution, until expiration of the employment contract.

      Regards.

    • Dear Gina,

First of all, my apology for late reply. I’ve been dealing something personal.

Salamat sa pag bisita sa ating munting tahanan. Yes, UAE are one of those countries affected by financial crisis. Regarding your inquiry, please find my reply below:

All of us working as overseas contract workers are OWWA members and we paid our OWWA contributions every 2 Years. Please be sure that you renew your membership every two years or else you cant avail OWWA important benefits like member is covered with life insurance for the duration of his employment contract abroad. The coverage includes natural death and accidental death, total disability and burial benefits.

If you’re going home for good, you can also avail their OWWA-NLSF LDPO Project. This program is a joint undertaking of OWWA and National Livelihood Support Fund (NLSF) through OFW Reintegration Program. A credit facilities to OFWs, their families, and organizations can avail this program for possible business ventures that you going to put up once you reintegrate into the mainstream of our society. The loan being offered will require the OFW to take a business training first before the loan is approve. the amount you will receive is with no interest and will be paid within 2-yeas. However, a collateral is needed to apply for the said loan as guarantee that borrower OFW will pay his/her loan obligation.

Some Non-government organizations are willing to help OFWs who wants to go home for good, one of them is ATIKHA. It provides economic and social services to overseas Filipinos and their families in the Philippines. The organization aims to help address the social cost of migration and tap the development potential of migration. ATIKHA assists in organizing the community and in the development of community-based enterprises. It helps identify viable enterprises through feasibility and market studies. It then provides technology transfer and training, and in the start-up operation of the business. Visit their website : http://www.atikha.org/index.php for more information.

For more infos, you can also visit OWWA website : http://www.owwa.gov.ph/

Thank you and visit us again.

      Manuel
