  1. Sir

I just want to ask kung what agency po ang pwede kung lapitan to help me with my placement fee Im going To UK i already have the job acceptance from the company but hinihingian na po kasi ako from my processing of visa.. so meaning wala pa po kasi ako document to show like “contract” . Sabi ng agency I need to give them atleast 1/4 of the whole placement so ung 1/4 po is amounting Php 65,000.00 pesos then para ma process ang entry visa, after daw po nun another 1/4 ulit (65,000.00) para sa iba pang document, poea document etc. then pagdating daw po ng “working visa” ko dun na po ung last payment of 130,000.00..

Check below requirements about Government’s OFW-Reintegration Program:

The program provides returning OFWs with the following: (1) counseling on saving and financial management to help them manage and sustain their overseas earnings; (2) skills training, retooling, and upgrading to promote their employability and competitiveness; (3) employment facilitation services to help them in their job search, locally or overseas; and (4) livelihood and enterprise development assistance for OFWs who want to set-up businesses.

OFWs who are members of OWWA who want to avail of business loans under the OFW-RP are required to complete entrepreneurial development training (EDT), conducted every Thursday at the NRCO, OWWA Bldg., Intramuros, Manila.

Tornea said the training orients participants on various business opportunities, and on the basics of starting a business and preparing a business plan. It also assesses the participants’ capability to manage any business enterprise to help them find out and address their weaknesses before implementing their business plan.

She added that interested OFWs are required to submit business plans to the LBP and DBP, which will evaluate the viability of the business enterprise they want to set up.

The other requirements OFWs should submit to partner banks in applying for the reintegration loan assistance are the following: An OWWA certification that the borrower is a bona fide OWWA member, has completed EDT, and has good credit history; and biodata.

For a start-up business, other requirements are: a certificate of registration from the DTI, and a Mayor’s permit. For existing business enterprise, other requirements are: certificate of registration from DTI, Mayor’s permit, Income Tax Return (last three years), financial statements (filed with BIR in the last three years), latest interim financial statement, and statement of assets and liabilities.

Interested eligible borrowers may proceed to the nearest OWWA-Regional Office and LBP branch, or contact the NRCO at Tel. No. 526-2633 / 526-2392.

        • Puwede po kayong mag apply ng OWWA loan on behalf of your husband at kung livelihood program ng OWWA kayo mag apply dapat po kayong mag seminar for this purpose. Meron din pong OWWA OFW Business Loan under Govt. Reintegration program. Please visit OWWA office in your area or LDB, DBP and inquire for more complete info.

    • Feme,

Maraming banking institutions na may loan facilities for OFWs. Meron din ang OWWA. All you need to do is to visit them and ask for the requirements, don’t forget to bring your contract.

can my wife apply for me in my absent. i am recently working in saudi.
    please advice

  7. Mr. Bong,

    Rolando A. Reyes

    • Land,

    rey

    • Rey,

May pang business capital rin para sa tinatawag nilang entrepreneurship/micro-enterprise development assistance for business capital or starter kits to obtain business loans.

Please check banking system in Qatar.

Try to visit the bank and ask for reconciliatary method or solution na medyo hindi ka naman mahirapan sa pagbayad.

          Regards.

  12. hi sir bong,

Wala kasing loan facility for housing ang OWWA. All you have to do is to issue a power of attorney sa iyong kapatid upang siya na ang mag-asikaso sa lahat.

You can purchase a fully developed lot not exceeding one thousand square meters (1,000 sq. m.), which should be within a residential area; Purchase of a lot and construction of a residential unit; Purchase of a residential house and lot, townhouse or condominium unit, inclusive of a parking slot and more. Kindly check this link: http://bit.ly/gnHQiv

  18. hi,im a ofw from here in riyadh city, kingdom of saudi arabia working for almost 7yrs in a restaurant and would like to inform how can avail a loan in owwa because im going on a vacation this december 2010…..

  19. Sir,

Tungkol sa iyong tanong, OWWA accepts loan application amounting 200K for the following purposes only: 1) Working capital – for purchase of merchandise goods and/or raw materials 2) Business assets acquisition (except lot) – for purchase of machines/equipment and 3) Business site construction or improvement.

      Bong

      • Mr. Bong,

Maraming salamat sa informasyon na binigay mo sa akin, pero hindi pala puedeng mag-loan sa OWWA para pambayad ng PAG-IBIG Housing Loan ko, May iba pa bang paraan para makapag-loan intended for this purpose for OFW member?

Sanay mabigyang lunas ang aking mga katanungan.

        Mabuhay Ka Kabayang Bong,

        Rolan

        • Land,

Bakit? Malaki ba ang equity mo? Ang equity lang naman ang dapat nating bayaran muna and the rest is the monthly amortization.

More power sir and god bless.

    • Briggs,

Why not? Your option is to buy a machine to be used for business.

If ever you may decide to avail this program ask a member of your family na may titulo ng lupa or any properties under their name na puwedeng tanggapain ng OWWA bilang collateral. Kung sakaling puwede ang kamag-anak, i think they will execute an affidavit or special power of attorney for you to avail the loan with their property as collateral.

      Bong

P.S. Thanks sa tula. I will make a new page para lamang sa mga ito.

    • John,

Bisitahan mo kaagad ang OWWA regional office kung saan ka malapit at mag inquire kung puwede bang maka avail ng carloan for business purposes ang iyong mother on your behalf. As far as i know there are only 3 Loan purposes accepted by OWWA, a) Working capital b) Business assets acquisition (except lot) like machineries and equipments c) Business site construction or house improvement.

      Good luck.

  23. Dear Sir,

    more power and God bless…..

    • Dear Rose,

I’ll share you a little about OWWAs OFW reintegration program.

OWWA has already an existing livelihood program for returning OFWs who don’t want to work abroad again. This program is a joint undertaking of OWWA and National Livelihood Support Fund (NLSF). The program helps OFWs to become an entrepreneur when they decide to return into the mainstream of our society. It is not just only for individuals but also to organizations. Possible business opportunities are 1) general merchandise and buy and sell, groceries etc. 2) repair shops, carenderia, parlors etc., 3) Meat and fruit processing etc 4) agri-business.

All OFWs and their dependents can avail for a loan, all you need to do is to visit OWWA Regional office.
If ever you’re residing Laguna, instruct your family members to visit ATIKHA in San Pablo, Laguna. This NGO or Non-government organization helps OFW and OFW family members in determining viable business in your area. They will give training and assist you to start the operation. If you have time please visit this site: http://www.atikha.org/index.php .

Good luck and please share this message to our fellow OFWs.

Under OWWA-Philhealth, overseas worker-members and families are provided with health insurance.

OWWA members, their families and distressed OFWs who need medical treatment for illnesses contracted while working abroad can also avail for hospitalization. OWWA Philhealth pays for hospital expenses.

OFW-patients and family beneficiaries are provided with medical services ranging from general medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, etc. PhilHealth also reimburses overseas confinements.

      Good luck Vir!

    • Hi Ria,

Puwede, kailangan lang ng mga dokumento na magpapatunay na nasa Taiwan ang iyong sister at authorization sa kamag-anak na mag loan such as Power of Attorney. If you have time drop by at any OWWA office in your area and ask for details.

      Thanks for dropping by.

  27. Dear Sir,

My husband is an ofw since 2005, he is now planning to settle for good here in Isabela, this coming December. This month of July, we are now starting our business as fishpond operator, we have 22,000 fingerlings in our ponds. Due to the high cost of feeds, we will not be able to sustain this need until we harvest on December 2010.

In this regard, may i know sir, if we can avail a loan in order to provide the feeds we need for the said fingerlings. We cannot submit a collateral right now because the Title of the said fishpond is still on process by DENR.

    Salamat po.

  28. my Uncle is a owwa member for the last 25 years and his last departure was 2005 and he died this year, would he still be eligible to claim the burial benefits?

    • Hi Aldwin! Im sorry to tell you that when a worker stops paying his/her membership to OWWA, he is not considered an OWWA member. Please note the bold/italic portion of the paragraph below;

Death Benefit entitles an OWWA member to a benefit, payable to his/her designated beneficiary, of P100,000 for the duration of his employment contract for death due to natural cause, and P200,000 for death due to accident.

Effectivity of Membership: OWWA membership, either through the compulsory or voluntary coverages, shall be effective upon payment of membership contribution, until expiration of the employment contract.

    • Dear Gina,

First of all, my apology for late reply. I’ve been dealing something personal.

Salamat sa pag bisita sa ating munting tahanan. Yes, UAE are one of those countries affected by financial crisis. Regarding your inquiry, please find my reply below:

All of us working as overseas contract workers are OWWA members and we paid our OWWA contributions every 2 Years. Please be sure that you renew your membership every two years or else you cant avail OWWA important benefits like member is covered with life insurance for the duration of his employment contract abroad. The coverage includes natural death and accidental death, total disability and burial benefits.

If you’re going home for good, you can also avail their OWWA-NLSF LDPO Project. This program is a joint undertaking of OWWA and National Livelihood Support Fund (NLSF) through OFW Reintegration Program. A credit facilities to OFWs, their families, and organizations can avail this program for possible business ventures that you going to put up once you reintegrate into the mainstream of our society. The loan being offered will require the OFW to take a business training first before the loan is approve. the amount you will receive is with no interest and will be paid within 2-yeas. However, a collateral is needed to apply for the said loan as guarantee that borrower OFW will pay his/her loan obligation.

Some Non-government organizations are willing to help OFWs who wants to go home for good, one of them is ATIKHA. It provides economic and social services to overseas Filipinos and their families in the Philippines. The organization aims to help address the social cost of migration and tap the development potential of migration. ATIKHA assists in organizing the community and in the development of community-based enterprises. It helps identify viable enterprises through feasibility and market studies. It then provides technology transfer and training, and in the start-up operation of the business. Visit their website : http://www.atikha.org/index.php for more information.

For more infos, you can also visit OWWA website : http://www.owwa.gov.ph/

Thank you and visit us again.
