Family visa now linked with salary

Family visa now linked with salary

P.K. Abdul Ghafour | Arab News

JEDDAH: The Foreign Ministry will issue permanent resident visas for wives and children of expatriate workers in the Kingdom, without considering their profession, Al-Yaum Arabic daily has reported.

Philippine Passport

“The ministry’s office in Riyadh issued such recruitment visas for three days last week and stopped it temporarily. It is expected that the ministry would resume the service next month,” a ministry source told the paper.

The news is a relief for many of the seven million expatriate workers, who are unable to bring their families on resident visas due to their profession written on their iqamas.

The Foreign Ministry and the Recruitment Office only issued permanent resident and visit visas to those in white-collar jobs such as engineers, doctors and executives. The Al-Yaum report said the ministry would only look at the financial status of the applicant. “The family visa is no more linked with profession,” the source said. He said the ministry stopped processing applications in order to implement the new criteria. “This is a great news for thousands of professionals like me who are unable to bring their wives and children to the Kingdom because of the profession in iqama,” said Shabeer Ali, a computer engineer based in Jeddah. Ali said he has been trying to bring his family to the Kingdom ever since his marriage. “Until now I could not, because they look at the profession on my iqama, which is an electrician. I had presented my Masters degree certificate in computer science attested by the Saudi Embassy, as well as my salary certificate, but they rejected my application,” he said.

He said he had never known about this problem before coming to the Kingdom.

“I know that there are thousands of expatriate workers who are highly qualified and earn good salaries but cannot bring their families because of their profession. I take this opportunity to thank the Saudi government for changing this policy and consider it a great blessing from God.” The Arabic daily said the ministry’s branches in Jeddah and Dammam have not implemented the new system as they have not been informed about the changed criteria.

Over the past three weeks, the ministry’s Riyadh office was issuing visit visas to all expatriate workers for their families without considering their profession.

K.C.M. Abdullah, a freelance journalist based in Riyadh, told Arab News that hundreds of people, including laborers, farmers and construction workers had benefited.

“Now they have stopped issuing visas to drivers and other house servants,” he pointed out. Some people claimed the visa rules were relaxed to mark the return of Crown Prince Sultan to the Kingdom after a yearlong medical trip.

Abdullah said the ministry used to accept around 800 applicants daily, adding over 1,000 people stood in the queue from early in the morning to present their applications made through the ministry’s website.

He said the revised service started a week before the Eid Al-Adha holidays.

After hearing the news of the relaxation in visa rules a large number of Indian workers approached the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and consulate in Jeddah to include names of their spouses in their passports. Indian missions are now issuing new passports after including spouse names. People who want to include the names of spouses should attach attested marriage certificates. Those who have married recently should register their marriages by producing relevant documents.

    • Carla,

If Surveyor is a supervisory work then your husband can bring you and kids in KSA. Pakisabi sa iyong husband na tanongin ang kanilang Personnel Dept. tungkol dito, para sigurado tayo kung hindi, tell him to apply for a change of profession if he have the requirements such as: college or university diploma.

  3. sir,

    salamat,,

    • Rolando,

First and foremost, you should check your profession in your iqama. If it is Engineer then you need to ask your wife to get the following requirements:

      1. Your original degree / diploma certificate (CAV or Cerfication, Authentication and Verification certified or attested by Dept. of Foreign Affairs and Saudi Embassy)
      2. Your original marriage certificate (Certified by Malacanang and DFA and Saudi Embassy)
      3. Copies of Birth certificates of your children
      4. Arabic Translation of of your marriage certificate that can be done in KSA
      5. Arabic translation of your degree / diploma certificate that can be done in KSA

To make sure, let your wife visit Royal Saudi Embassy in Makati.

    • Luis,

How about attested certificates that you are indeed a computer technician? Meron ba? Ito ba talaga ang line of work mo? If you can produce certificates man lang at ma certify na ito ay totoo, maka pag apply kana ng family visa considering that with your salary you can afford to bring your family in KSA which is the number 1 requirement.

Meron lang ako mga certificate of employments from previous work as a graphic designer.

        • Luis,

College Diploma/ and or University degree diploma or attested certificates na magpapatunay na tugma sa iyong working visa sa KSA is very necessary to bring your family to KSA.

          Regards.

          Bong

          • Sir bong i am also an undergraduate in BS Architecture in 5th yr po , i have The TOR with me magagamit ko po ba ito.? ksi draftsman yng profession ko sa iqama nsa above 3000 sr din po yng sahod ko..nabago na rin yng contract status ko from single to married…

            • Nash,

All I knew yong may professional working permit lang, like Engineers, Doctors etc at Technician, Maintenance Techinicians.

        • Luis,

    • Lar,

Technician category of visa and work permit/iqama are allowed to bring their family to KSA (family status). Salary should be SAR 3,000 up and holder of a diploma or university degree. Saudi Royal Embassy in Manila should verify the authenticity of the Diploma prior visa stamping.

      Regards.

      Bong

      • sir gud day… sir ang ibig po bang sbihin ung mga requirements n un eh kailangan lng pra maitatak s passport ko ung electronic technician? no need to bring here ung mga papers n un?slamat po

        • Hil,

In order to change your iqama and working visa category, you must be a college or university graduate with diploma or certificate from the school.

If you are an Engineer or Technician but your profession or trade mentioned in your visa is labor, carpenter, plumber, helper, janitor, you are not eligible to bring your family in the Kingdom.

          Thanks.

          Bong

  9. hi sir,

I AM WORKING HERE IN ksa AT PLANO KO NA DALIN ANG FAMILY KO D2 UNDER FAMILY VISA.

KAILANGAN PA PO BANG DUMAAN S AGENCY NATIN SA PILIPINAS? AT MAGKANO PO ANG CHARGES.
KASI PO ANG SABI SA AKIN AY KAILANGAN DUMAAN AT MAGBABAYAD NG 7,500 PESOS PER HEAD.

PARA SAAN PO IYON CONSIDERING ANG WIFE KO ANG MAGLALAKAD AT MAGBABAYAD NG MGA AUTHENTICATION TAPOS AKO DIN ANG MAG AASIKASO D2 S KSA AT SA EMPLOYER KO.

SO ANO PO ANG PARTICIPATION NG AGENCY SA ATIN

    SALAMAT PO

    ODIE

    • Del,

      Regards.

      Bong
